Art Deco Barrette
This barrette is handmade in my rural Ohio glass and metal studio from black glass that has been coated with a vibrant multi-colored iridescent finish. Etched into the finish is an Art Deco design, and the photos are of the exact item for sale. I make a lot of iridized barrettes, and rarely does one come out quite so stunning as the color palette on this particular barrette.
My barrettes typically measure between 3 1/2" and 3 3/4" (9 - 10 cm long) and 1"(3 cm) wide, and the actual clip portion measures about 2 3/4" (70mm) long. Every barrette I ship in the US comes in a small gift box.
Even if you have extremely fine hair, the French-made clasp on this barrette should hold - my own is very fine and slippery, and I wear one of my own glass barrettes in it nearly every day. I recommend at least shoulder length hair is your hair is fine and slippery. People with thick hair, this barrette should fit you as well.
I've had a lot of people look askance at glass barrettes, but really, unless you're in the habit of playing rugby on concrete or engaging in other extreme sports and activities, my barrettes hold up pretty well. I've been dropping mine on the sink for years, and, although I absolutely DO NOT recommend doing this, I accidentally carried one around in my ginormous purse for about two months before I realized it was in there. I do not recommend wearing them in the pool or shower, as it can make the clips rust.
